DIY Comic Book Workshops at Toronto Library’s Sanderson Branch

Throughout June, I’ll be leading comic books workshops for children 9 to 12. Over four Saturdays in June (June 2, 9, 16, 23), with the help of Chris Reed of Small Print Toronto, I’ll help guide young writers through the process of writing and illustrating their very own comic books, in 90-minute interactive lessons. Topics will cover character design, drawing action, plotting, storytelling, pacing, page structure and more. Students are welcome to attend all four workshops or drop in and out as they’re able.

The DIY Comic Book Workshop is part of Sophie’s Studio, which offers hands-on creative workshops made possible by Sophie’s Studio. Sophie’s Studio was created to support literacy, creativity and writing skills in children from a young age thanks to a bequest from long-time library lover and user Sophia Lucyk.

The workshops are free, but space is limited. Please register at the branch or call 416-393-7653. And visit the Toronto Public Library site for more details.
